Maria Menounos

Maria found out she was facing a personal health crisis as she was caring for her mother with stages 4 brain tumors. In February 2014 Menounos started experiencing troubling symptoms. She told PEOPLE that she had been suffering from headaches and lightheadedness since February 2014. My speech had become slow and was also having difficulties comprehension of the teleprompter. An MRI showed Menounos to have a huge-sized meningioma brain tumor that had grown up to the size of a golfball. It was pushing on her facial nerves. Menounos booked an appointment to see her mother's neurosurgeon, Dr. Keith L. Black. Surgery was scheduled for the 8th of June, Menounos' 39th birthday. He told her, "I am 98 percent sure that it's benign however, we won't know until we actually get there," The complicated procedure took around seven hours, and Dr. Black was capable of eliminating 99.9 percent of the benign tumor. According Dr. Black, there is an opportunity of 6-7 percent of the tumor recurring. Yet, I'll be willing to take this chance any time. After returning home to her family after a six-day hospital stay, Menounos is healing and spending time with her mother, Litsa, whose latest MRI confirms that her cancer remains well-controlled.
